GAMBIER, Ohio – Henry Myers scored the game's only goal as No. 2 Kenyon College won a physical matchup over DePauw University 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Mavec Field in a North Coast Athletic Conference soccer match.

It was the NCAC opener for both teams.

For Kenyon, it was the ninth win in a row to start the season. The last time that was accomplished was in 1992.

With about a minute left in the first half, Woo Jeon fired from just inside the 18-yard box and the ball deflected off Tigers goalie Jake Pezzuto. Myers was there for the cleanup which turned out to be the match's only goal.

DePauw had two shots on goal in the first half from Adrian Ables (16th) and Brandon Johnson (40th) but both were saved by Sam Clougher. It was the sophomore keeper's sixth shutout of the year.

In the second half, the Tigers appeared to tie the match in the 85th minute with a header from Andy Morrison, but the far side official waved off the goal with an offside call.

Neither team had a shot attempt on-goal in the second half.

Kenyon out-shot DePauw 14-8 and had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lords' next match comes in a week (Oct. 4) when they host Allegheny College for a 3 p.m. match.
