Stupica, Ladies dominate during Kenyon Invitational

Schuyler Stupica was nearly unstoppable from her middle blocker position today as Kenyon won matches
over Waynesburg and Manchester. She hit a ridiculous .762 with 18 kills and just two errors.

GAMBIER, Ohio – Kenyon College (8-9) snapped a six-match losing streak in convincing fashion Saturday afternoon as they faced Waynesburg University and Manchester University during the team's Invitational. The Ladies won in straight sets during both matches. The victory over Waynesburg moved Kenyon's win total to seven, topping last year's mark of six.
 
MATCH ONE
 
Kenyon won by scores of 25-16, 25-10 and 25-14 during the first match against Waynesburg.
 
Schuyler Stupica and Tierney McClure each had 10 kills to lead the Ladies' offense while Delaney Swanson nearly recorded a double-double with nine kills and 11 digs.
 
Freshman Victoria Leggett added a match-high four service aces while Jensen Shurbert dished out 37 assists. Defensively, Lauren Kerr added five solo blocks
 
As a team, the Ladies hit .265 while holding the Yellow Jackets to a .043 attack percentage.
 
MATCH TWO
 
The Ladies closed out the day with another straight-sets victory, this time over Manchester. Kenyon won 25-19, 25-16 and 25-17.
 
Swanson attained a team-high 10 kills while also adding 12 digs for her 10th double-double of the year. Katie Goulder added eight kills to her line and Shurbert was superb again handing out 29 assists.
 
Also helping the Ladies' offense was Stupica. The freshman middle blocker was nearly unstoppable as she had nine attempts and connected with eight kills.
 
Kenyon's offense was solid again hitting .260 for the match while holding the Spartans to a .109 attack percentage.
 
The next contest for Kenyon is September 16 when they host Muskingum University at 7 p.m.
