Sophomore Lauren Kerr had six kills and a pair of block assists as Kenyon defeated Marietta in
convincing fashion Thursday night in the home finale for the Ladies.

GAMBIER, Ohio – Nine different Kenyon College (12-11) volleyball players recorded multiple kills as the Ladies won in straight sets over the visiting Marietta College Pioneers Thursday night in a non-conference match at Tomsich Arena. The win was Kenyon's fifth in its last seven matches.

Delaney Swanson had a team-high seven kills while Lauren Kerr and Grace Riley added six and five, respectively. Sophomore Rachael Thorson paced the Ladies' defense with 14 digs while Jensen Shurbert dished out a match-high 17 assists. As a team, Kenyon connected with an efficient .248 attack percentage while Marietta was held to a -.078 mark.

The Ladies opened the match with an 8-0 lead following a bad set from the Pioneers. They followed that up with a 9-0 run to make it 20-4 as Alexi Donnelly totaled three kills and Schuyler Stupica added a pair during that stretch. By the end of the first set, Kenyon won 25-8.

Set two was tight early on as Marietta found itself down just two points (8-6) following a Kenyon attack error. But the early tussle didn't last after that. The Ladies hit a 12-3 run which was aided by five attack errors and helped the home team secure a 20-9 advantage. Shurbert closed the set with a kill to bring the tally to 25-14.

Kenyon closed the door on the Pioneers in set three. The Ladies led throughout and got their first double-digit lead after Annmarie Magnus' ace which brought the score to 21-11. Thorson's ace seven plays later vaulted the Ladies to their 12th win of the year.

Next up for the Ladies is a trip to Michigan to take on Saint Mary's College and Albion College on Oct. 31 in the final matches of the regular season.
