GREENCASTLE, Ind. – With the score tied at 4, the Kenyon College Ladies (8-4, 3-3 NCAC) lacrosse team reeled off three consecutive goals to take control of their game versus DePauw University (6-8, 2-4 NCAC) Saturday afternoon. Kenyon eventually prevailed 17-10 and evened its North Coast Athletic Conference record at 3-3.
Freshman
Kat Englert led the Ladies with five goals while
Jane Symmes added three. A quartet of other players contributed two goals for Kenyon.
After DePauw's Abigail Snively scored her ninth goal of the year and tied the game at 4 about 15 minutes into the game, Kenyon responded.
Sophomore
Allie McLane found Englert for the go-ahead score at the 13-minute mark and the Ladies never looked back. Englert scored again with 10:44 left in the half and McLane closed the 3-0 run with a goal of her own and pushed the Ladies' lead to 7-4.
Kenyon took an 8-5 lead into the break as
Gia Biaggi tallied the final first-half goal.
The Ladies doubled up the score against the Tigers (10-5) nearly five minutes into the second half after goals from
Kelley Russell and
Abby Coleman.
DePauw was able to rally after they fell behind 11-6 about eight minutes into the final half. The Tigers cut the deficit to two (12-10) as Emma Flynn tallied her team-leading 36th goal of the year with 10:20 left in the game.
But after that, the Ladies closed the game on a 5-0 run and squashed any opportunity of a Tiger comeback.
Meredith Bentsen tallied five saves in the win. As a team, Kenyon out-shot DePauw 33-20.
Next up for the Ladies is a trip to Hiram College April 22. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

The Centennial, Colo., native has now tallied 51 goals this season, tied for ninth-most in program history.
