Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 2 Lords run roughshod over Tigers

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College Lords men's soccer team looked like the No. 2 team in Division III Saturday afternoon with a 5-0 trouncing over Wittenberg University at Mavec Field. It was the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Kenyon dominated the match out-shooting Wittenberg 25-8 and keeping constant pressure on the Tiger defense.

Alberto Carmona scored two goals on three shots to lead the Lords. The scoring began early when Woo Jeon dribbled past a defender and fired a shot to the lower left corner of the net in the 3rd minute.

At the 35-minute mark, the Lords turned up the energy as Carmona scored twice in three minutes. The first came on a pass to Jeon, who passed back to Carmona for the score. Then it was Greg McNeer who sent a deep pass from along the sideline to Carmona and the freshman did the rest moving Kenyon's lead to 3-0.

Second-half action saw Kenyon score two more times.

The Lords scored at the 65th minute on a through ball up the middle from Tony Amolo to Aaron Bogle who tapped the ball past Tigers keeper Jack Snider. Amolo himself scored on a pass from Bogle five minutes later for the final tally.

Defensively, the Lords pitched their sixth shutout of the season as keeper Sam Clougher recorded three saves.

Next up for Kenyon is a date with Case Western Reserve University September 30 at Mavec Field. The match is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
