Sophomore Lauren Kerr had seven kills which led the Ladies at Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday.

DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University (18-1, 2-0 NCAC) won its 18th straight match Wednesday night as it defeated Kenyon College (6-7, 0-3 NCAC) in straight sets at Branch Rickey Arena in a North Coast Athletic Conference volleyball contest.

The Ladies were led by Lauren Kerr who totaled seven kills while Jensen Shurbert dished out 16 assists. Freshman Delaney Swanson added a team-high nine digs.

Set one was close early on as Kenyon found itself down just two (6-4) following a Battling Bishops attack error. The Ladies were down two again (12-10) after another OWU error but they wouldn't get any closer after that. Ohio Wesleyan followed with an 8-2 run to go up its biggest margin (20-12). Brianna La Croix led her team with four kills during that stretch.

In the second set, Tierney McClure's ace pulled the Ladies within two points (6-4) early on, but once again, OWU responded. After the ace, the Battling Bishops ran off a 9-2 run which was aided by five Ladies errors and the home team went up 15-6. They led by as many as 13 points in the set (23-10) before prevailing 25-12. Kenyon hit -.048 in the set.

Ohio Wesleyan closed out the match in the third. They attained a double-digit lead (16-6) following a Meigan Day kill and never looked back as they eventually won 25-11.

In the match, Kenyon was held to its second-lowest attack percentage (.041) of the season.

The Ladies will try and bounce back October 3 when they visit NCAC opponent Hiram College.
