GAMBIER, Ohio -- In its most dominant performance of the season, the Kenyon College women's basketball team took care of business on the hardwood Saturday afternoon, defeating The College of Wooster by a count of 79-55. The 24-point margin was the largest margin of victory this season for the Ladies, who led the entire game while outscoring the Fighting Scots in each of the first three quarters.
The Ladies used a quick start and a powerful first half to build an early advantage. Kenyon used runs of 14-3 to start the first half and then 11-3 to end the half, carrying a 21-point edge into halftime.
Each player that entered the game for the Ladies scored at least two points. Eight different players recorded at least six rebounds for Kenyon, as well. The rebounding battle went overwhelmingly in favor of the Ladies, 58-33.
Junior
Miranda Diesz turned in the game's best individual effort, tallying 13 points and seven rebounds, both of which were tied for the highest marks for the team.
Ifeoma Archimalo, also a junior, pitched in with 12 points and five rebounds.
Kenyon shot 44.2 percent (34-of-77) from the field, while Wooster shot just 30 percent (18-of-60), including 1-of-16 from three-point range.
The bench provided Kenyon with quality minutes, including freshman
Sharon Hull's output of four assists and 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Classmate
Hannah O'Day added 12 points and seven rebounds as Kenyon's bench outscored Wooster's reserves, 44-18.
On Wooster's side, Lauren Hancher led all players with a game-high 22 points and improved her season average, which ranked third in the North Coast Athletic Conference prior to the start of the game
The Ladies (10-6, 4-3 NCAC) have now won four of their last five games and find themselves in a tie for third place in NCAC. Wooster (5-11, 1-6 NCAC) is going in the opposite direction and has lost 11 of its last 12 games.
Up next, the Ladies will face off with Wittenberg University and Hiram College in respective road games on Wednesday and Saturday. The team's next home contest will be January 27 at 6:00 p.m. against Oberlin.
