SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Kenyon College Ladies had eight players score six points or more Thursday and seven players grab five rebounds or more while rolling to a 63-50 victory over Lake Forest College in the first day of the two-day Arizona Shootout being held at Scottsdale Community College.
The Ladies (8-3) took control of the game early with a suffocating defense that held the Foresters to a 6-of-32 (18.8 percent) shooting performance in the first half. During that same time span, the Ladies racked up a 34-15 advantage in the rebounding department. That domination on the boards continued in the second half and the Ladies wound up tallying a program record 63 rebounds for the game.
Junior post
Ifeoma Archimalo played just six minutes in the half, but managed to score seven points and grab four rebounds. At the same time, classmate
Griffin Tullis racked up six points and seven rebounds in 14 minutes of first-half work.
Kenyon didn't shoot all that well from long range, but it controlled the interior, going 10-of-21 from close range while building a 13-4 first quarter lead and then a 34-20 halftime lead.
The large margin on the scoreboard allowed Kenyon coach
Suzanne Helfant to deploy her reserves in the second half. Eventually, all 12 healthy players on the Kenyon rosters saw playing time.
Kenyon went up by as many as 21 points in the third quarter. Although the change of personnel late in the game allowed the Foresters to draw a little closer, Kenyon continued to clamp down on defense, holding Lake Forest to 14-of-63 shooting (22.2 percent) for the game.
Archimalo finished the contest with nine points and six rebounds, while Tullis wrapped things up with six points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

Lake Forest (2-6) got a team-high nine points from Paige Bobos, while Kara Norvet added seven points and a team-high six rebounds.
Kenyon will return to Arizona Shootout play tomorrow and will take on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Points at 12 p.m. EST.
