Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Ladies top Tigers, move to 2-0

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Freshman Cassie Hudson-Heck and senior Jane Symmes combined for 13 goals Thursday while leading the Kenyon College Ladies lacrosse team to a 20-7 victory over the Sewanee Tigers in a neutral-site game played at Georgetown College.

Despite the lopsided outcome, Sewanee (3-5) actually took control of the game early, blitzing Kenyon with four goals in the game's first three-and-a-half minutes. Kenyon, however, got things turned around quickly. A goal from Hudson-Heck at the 15:54 mark served as the Ladies' wake-up call. That goal, followed by one from Kat Englert and another from Hudson-Heck gave Kenyon a 5-4 lead at the 11:08 mark of the first half.

Sewanee got one goal back, but the Ladies rattled off four straight to go into halftime with a 9-5 lead. Two of those four goals came from Hudson-Heck. The other two came from Lucy Somers and Symmes.

In the second half, Sewanee pulled within 9-6, but that would be as close as the Tigers would get. The Ladies (2-0) continued to dominate play and closed out the game with ease. At one point, Symmes fired in four straight to give the Ladies a 17-7 advantage with 12:45 left on the clock.

Symmes finished the game with six goals and seven draw controls. Hudson-Heck led all scorers with seven goals and three assists. Englert added three goals and an assist, while Allie McLane tacked on a goal and two more assists.

Overall, the Ladies outshot the Tigers, 32-22. Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Allie Dumas came up big for Kenyon, making 15 saves in the win.
