GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College Ladies field hockey team got another North Coast Athletic Conference win on Tuesday as they defeated Oberlin College 5-0 at McBride Field. Five different players recorded goals for Kenyon who controlled possession throughout and out-shot Oberlin 34-3.
Six minutes into the first half, sophomore
Abbey Roswell got the Ladies (3-2, 2-0 NCAC) on the board.
After a penalty corner from
Hannah Paterakis, a shot from
Zoe Chrissos was saved by Oberlin but the deflected ball came right to Roswell who tapped it in.
As the game progressed, Kenyon capitalized on a few more penalty corners.
During the 13th minute, junior
Katelyn Hutchinson added the team's second goal as she scored from the right side. It was her fourth goal of the season.
The Ladies added two more goals in the first half, both off corners, as
Hannah Sklar and
Kelsey Trulik scored in the 15th and 33rd minutes, respectively. For Sklar, it was her first career goal.
By halftime, Kenyon had taken 16 more shots (18-2) than the Yeowomen.
Kenyon tallied one more goal just 38 seconds into the second half for its final score of the night. The opportunity was converted by junior
Weezie Foster who fired from along the right wing.
With a 5-0 lead, head coach
Jacque DeMarco was able to empty her bench and got 10 more players some time in the contest.
Next up for Kenyon is another NCAC game against Ohio Wesleyan University on September 17 at McBride Field starting at noon.
Junior defender Kelsey Trulik was one of five players to score a goal on Tuesday as the Ladies field hockey team
downed Oberlin 5-0. The victory moved Kenyon's record to 3-2 and 2-0 in NCAC play.
