UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – John Carroll University scored three first-half goals en route to a 4-1 win over Kenyon College on Sunday in a non-conference women's soccer match at Don Shula Stadium.
Four different Blue Streak players recorded goals as the home team out-shot the Ladies 17-7, including a 9-4 advantage in on-goal attempts.
JCU opened the match overwhelming Kenyon with two goals in the first four minutes. Andrea Regrut got the Blue Streaks on the board in the second minute and shortly thereafter Jaclyn Audino scored on an assist from Maddy Fisher.
Down by two, Kenyon found just one shot attempt from
Emma Klug in the 21st minute that was blocked before JCU tallied its third goal.
John Carroll's third goal of the half was scored by Bailey Fischer in the 35th minute.
The Ladies' only on-goal attempt in the opening stanza came from
Sophie Alexander with under two minutes until the break.
In the second half, Kenyon picked up its offensive pace registering five attempts, including a goal from senior
Maggie Smith in the 85th minute. But the three-goal deficit was a bit too much as JCU prevailed 4-1.
Kenyon will try and snap its two-match losing streak when they travel to Capital University on September 21 for a 7 p.m. contest.
Senior forward Maggie Smith tallied the Ladies' lone goal on Sunday as John Carroll University dealt
Kenyon a 4-1 setback. The loss was Kenyon's second in a row and moved its record to 2-4-1.
