CLEVELAND, Ohio –
Sharon Hull scored along the baseline with 2.1 seconds left as the Kenyon Ladies basketball team rallied for a thrilling 53-51 come-from-behind win at Case Western Reserve University on Friday night at Horsburgh Gymnasium. The victory was Kenyon's seventh in a row and improved the team's overall mark to 8-1.

After the Spartans tied the game at 51 with 20 seconds left, Coach
Suzanne Helfant called timeout and the Ladies followed with the go-ahead bucket.

Offense was at a premium in the opening quarter as both teams shot no better than 33 percent.  Kenyon took five minutes off the scoreboard until it scored on a three-ball from
Jessica Gerber bringing the score to 7-4, Case.  The Ladies found a little more continuity after that, getting shots from
Paige Matijasich and
Ifeoma Archimalo and trailed 12-10 after one.

Second-quarter action wasn't any better. The two-point deficit remained until a floater by Hull along the right baseline tied the game with 6:15 on the clock.  Case scored four in a row after that, though, from jumpers by Kendall McConico. A four-point advantage was later increased to nine by McConico who sank two free throws with about a minute left.

Matijasich tallied the final bucket of the half for the Ladies cutting the deficit to 23-16. Kenyon shot just 3-for-20 (15%) in the second quarter.

A quick 10-3 run about three minutes into the third helped tie the game for Kenyon. Gerber started the half with a three-pointer and
Griffin Tullis ended the stretch with a layup. A possession later, Tullis drained a long ball, giving the Ladies just their second lead, 29-28.

The Spartans were later down four before they ended the quarter on an 11-4 run. Hillary Hellmann's three-pointer pushed the home team up 39-34 and they went to the fourth up 39-36.

In the final period, competition was very close. There were five lead changes and a pair of ties. Kenyon went up 51-48 after a
Lane Davis layup with 1:59 left, but a couple of possessions later, Case tied it with a three-pointer from Hellmann at the top of the key.

Hull then scored late, pushing Kenyon to its first win at Case since November 26, 2013. After shooting just 22.5 percent in the first half, the Ladies came back to shoot 50 percent in the second. Tullis and Matijasich each scored 13 to lead the team.

The Ladies will now break for finals before returning on December 16 against Ohio Wesleyan University.
