CRAWFRODSVILLE, Ind. – The Kenyon College Lords continued Saturday their dominance over a young Wabash College men's lacrosse program. Sixteen different Kenyon players recorded at least one point as the Lords rolled to a 26-8 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) victory over the host Little Giants at Fischer Field.
The Wabash program began varsity play in the 2015 season. Since then, Kenyon has outscored the Little Giants, 75-14, over the course of three games. Saturday's win bumped Kenyon's season records to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC play. The loss dropped Wabash to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in conference competition.
Kenyon scored the first 12 goals of the game and dominated just about every aspect of the contest. The Lords outshot Wabash, 61-36, and won 31-of-37 faceoffs. Additionally, the Kenyon men out-hustled the Little Giants, 50-39, in ground balls and went 3-of-6 in extra-man opportunities. Wabash was 0-for-4 with the extra man.
Seven different Kenyon players notched first-quarter goals as the Lords jumped out to a 9-0 lead after 15 minutes of play. Three more shots found the Wabash net in the second quarter before the Little Giants scored their first goal at the 10:12 mark. That was followed by two more scores from Kenyon, which enjoyed intermission with a hearty 14-1 lead.
The huge margin allowed Kenyon coach
Doug Misarti to give his reserves some valuable playing time in the second half. In all, the Lords had 35 players, including four goalkeepers, log playing time. Starting goalkeeper,
Gabriel Avis, played the entire first half, made eight saves and earned his third win of the season.
The Lords offense was paced by senior
Robert Jacobs, who scored twice and assisted on five other goals for a game-high seven points.
Josh Galardi, a junior, racked up a game-high four goals, while his four-point game was matched by teammates
Emilio Sosa and
Jack Herzog, who both recorded three goals and an assist. Sophomore
Ben Bassett scored three times and
Joe Woody,
Pierce Kraft and
Shay Walczak matched Robert's two-goal effort.
Next up for Kenyon is another conference contest. The Lords will host Tuesday the Fighting Scots of The College of Wooster at 4 p.m. on McBride Field.
Josh Galardi scored four goals Saturday and was one of 16 different Kenyon players
to record at least one point during the Lords' 26-8 win at Wabash College.
