OBERLIN, Ohio –
Josh Galardi registered eight assists, which tied for the second-highest total in Kenyon single-game history, as the Lords lacrosse team earned a much-needed 26-8 North Coast Athletic Conference victory over Oberlin College on Wednesday night.
For Kenyon (5-6, 3-3 NCAC), it was the 14th straight win on the road versus the Yeomen dating back to 1995.
The Lords had contributions from a bunch of players.
Robert Jacobs tallied seven goals while
Ian Griffith added four of his own. In total, 11 different players found the back of the net for Kenyon.
As for Galardi, his assist total tied two other occasions in school history: Devin Catlin on February 28, 2009 against Sewanee: University of the South and Chip Unruh on March 29, 1997 against Marietta College.
At the 8:39 mark of the first quarter, the scoreboard was 2-1 in favor of the Lords. After that, the Lords put their foot on the gas and began to run away with it.
Kenyon scored 10 straight times and attained a 12-1 lead with less than 10 minutes to go in the second. During that stretch, a half-dozen players scored for the Lords including three from Jacobs and two from
Alex Lopez.
The Yeomen stopped the run on a goal from a Reese Koburov with 5:47 left. But Kenyon added four more and held a 16-2 advantage at the break.
In the third and fourth quarters, Oberlin found a trio of goals in each period but that wouldn't matter as Kenyon maintained a double-digit lead.
On the other side, the Lords added a few more scores including one each from
Miller Ward and
Rush Hogan. For both of those freshmen, it was their first career goal.
Next on the schedule for the Lords is a home date on April 19 against No. 10 Denison University at 4 p.m.
