Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Ladies tame Terriers, Englert reaches milestone

HIRAM, Ohio – With Wednesday night's five-point effort against the Hiram College Terriers, Kenyon College junior Kat Englert became just the fifth player in Ladies' lacrosse history to pass the 200-point plateau. The career milestone was reached as the Kenyon women rolled to a 22-12 victory at Henry Field.

Englert's five points were tallied from four goals and an assist. That gave her a team-best 47 points on the season and pushed her to 201 career points, a total that ranks tied for fourth in the Ladies' record book.

Englert got Kenyon started with the first goal of the game, but the Terriers replied with a pair of their own. Still looking at that one-goal deficit nine minutes into the game, the Ladies went on a run that proved to be game-changing.

Over the next seven minutes, the Kenyon women pumped in six consecutive goals to move ahead 7-2. Senior Allie McLane and sophomore Cassie Hudson-Heck both scored twice in the run, while Englert scored once and assisted on one of McLane's goals.

Hiram got one back at the 14:23 mark, but less than a minute later Englert scored her third goal of the game, giving her exactly 200 career points. That helped push the Ladies into halftime with an 11-6 lead.

Although the host Terriers were able to pull within five before the half, Kenyon opened the second stanza with five more goals to open up a ten-point margin. Sophomore Lucy Somers had two goals in that spurt and Englert scored her fourth and final goal of the evening.

Hiram never got closer than six goals the rest of the way and the Ladies scored six of the game's last eight goals to secure the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) victory.

Following up Englert's showing, Somers, McLane and Hudson-Heck all scored three times for the Ladies, who outshot the Terriers, 38-24. McLane also served up three assists to post a game-high six points. In all, ten different Kenyon players scored at least one goal and the Ladies' final output of 22 was a season-high.

Most of the Hiram offense came from two players, as both Sierah Ray and Autumn Osgood scored five times.

The win improved Kenyon's overall record to 6-5 and its NCAC record to 2-1. On the other side of the field, Hiram fell to 5-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
