GREENCASTLE, Ind. – After two tough losses a week ago, the Kenyon women's lacrosse team bounced back with a 15-10 North Coast Athletic Conference win at DePauw University on Saturday. The victory evened both Kenyon's overall record (5-5) and NCAC mark (1-1).
Kat Englert turned in a six-goal, three-assist performance and moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Kenyon record books with 157 career goals. She passed Jessica Brown '88 who totaled 154 in her career. Englert also moved into fifth place in school history in total points (196) passing Amanda Drummond '08 (192).
Mary Grace Detmer added a boost off the bench for Kenyon as she scored a career-high four times. In goal,
Carina Barnes came up with 14 saves, her second-highest total this season.
Just a couple minutes in, both teams had scored a goal before the Ladies reeled off three straight to take a 4-1 lead. At 23:17,
Maggie Grabowski started the stretch with her fifth goal of the year. Kenyon's next two scores came from Englert who moved the visitors ahead by three with 19:57 left.
DePauw was able to get to within two at the break as Madi Lozanoski scored with eight seconds left bringing the count to 5-3.
Early at the start of the second half, the Tigers pulled the score to 5-4 on an Emilye Denny score. But the Ladies followed with goals from
Allie McLane, Englert and
Lucy Somers to go up their biggest margin at the time, 8-4.
The closest DePauw was able to get the rest of the way came at the 8:33 mark. A goal from Sarah Ramsey made the score 11-9, but the Ladies countered by scoring four of the next five goals. Detmer and Englert each scored twice in the final 7:37 to get the final tally.
Next up for Kenyon is another road game, this time at Hiram College on April 12 at 5 p.m.
