GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon Ladies volleyball team got off on the right foot in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday as they downed Allegheny College in three sets at Tomsich Arena. That victory bolstered the Ladies record to 9-4 and 1-0 in conference play.
For Kenyon, it was the third straight regular-season win in the series against Allegheny. That had never happened in regular-season action with records dating back to 1986.
Maleah Miller and
Haley Witschey led the squad with nine kills each while senior
Jensen Shurbert and
Schuyler Stupica each added eight kills. Shurbert also chipped in with a match-high 32 assists. Additionally, newcomer
Carly Uhlir contributed 19 digs and four aces while
Ashley Martens and
Rachael Thorson each tallied 12 digs.
The Ladies had little trouble in the match as they won 25-14 in the first, 25-22 in the second and 25-17 in the third.
Kenyon's offense registered a .254 attack percentage, while on the defensive end, they held the Gators to a .116 mark.
Next up for the team is a trip to Marietta College on September 26 at 7 p.m.
