Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Illinois Wesleyan powers by Kenyon, 4-0

GAMBIER, Ohio – Perennial NCAA Tournament contender Illinois Wesleyan University scored a pair of goals in each half on Sunday as they claimed a 4-0 win against the Kenyon women's soccer team. The victory moved IWU to 2-0 while Kenyon fell to 0-2.

Members of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, the Titans did not take long to get their first and only needed goal. At the six-minute mark, Cameron Hindel picked up a loose ball and fired back into the net.

Ladies' junior Meredith Rogers had an on-goal attempt 15 minutes later, but that shot from outside the 18-yard box came into the arms of freshman Kelli McCarthy. It was the only on-goal attempt for the Ladies in the first half.

The Titans moved ahead 2-0 with less than five minutes remaining in the half. Anna Eager found Kaitlyn Chen just outside the top of the box and she finished to move the visitors up two.

In the second half, IWU once again found an early goal. This time Eager fired a laser into the left corner by a diving Hannah Petrich at the 49th minute.

The Ladies had a couple better offensive opportunities in the second half, including on-goal looks from Samantha Hayes, Fallon Raviol and Morgan Engmann. Those attempts, however, were saved by McCarthy and two by Kim Seper.

Kenyon was out-shot in the match 11-7, with 10 of IWU's shots on goal. Petrich, making her first career start in goal, picked up five saves for the Ladies.

Next up for the Ladies is a home date on September 9 when they host Washington and Lee University at 1 p.m.
