Lords claim fourth-straight NCAC title

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon men's soccer team won its fourth consecutive and tenth overall North Coast Athletic Conference championship on Saturday after a 9-0 win against Allegheny College at Mavec Field.

Kenyon improved to 14-1-2 and, for just the seventh time in NCAC history, finished the conference regular season undefeated with an 8-0-1 record. The victory also secures the No. 1 seed for next week's four-team conference tourney.  Semifinal opponent and time will be determined later this evening.

On a wet and cold afternoon, the No. 16 Lords flexed its muscle registering a season-high nine goals. Two of those scores were own-goals from the Gators, but the rest were by seven different Lords players.

The first score for Kenyon came at 16:20. David Kim's corner from the left side was met by Bret Lowry who skied above a Gators defender and headed home a shot into the right corner.

Just a 1:02 later, David Anderson scored from the top of the 18 following a pass from Philippe Stengel. Kenyon added two more scores after that including one from junior Gunner Found to end the half with a 4-0 lead.

The Lords, who have tallied 62 goals from 23 different players this season, continued playing strong in the second half.

Jack Cohen pushed the Lords' lead to 5-0 after finishing off a pass from freshman Luke Muther. Another freshman, Sam Casad, tallied his first goal on a shot just outside the box at the 58th minute. Additionally, Ollie Kendall and Collyn Carpenter scored for the first time this year.

The victory also marked the 25th straight NCAC game in which Kenyon hadn't lost. Since a 2-1 defeat to DePauw on October 1, 2016, the Lords have gone 24-0-1 in the conference regular season.

Furthermore, it was senior day for the program. Anderson, Lowry, Kim, Greg McNeer, Will Bennett, Keven Duan and Brice Koval were honored prior to the match. That group has helped the program attain a 69-9-6 record the last three-plus seasons and two NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal appearances.
