to Mavec Field on October 31 for an NCAC Tournament semifinal contest.
GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College men's soccer team will face off against Wabash College on October 31 at Mavec Field in a North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal match.
Earlier this season, Kenyon defeated the Little Giants, 4-0, on their home turf. Wednesday's matchup will be the second all-time meeting in the NCAC Tournament. In the previous postseason meeting, the Lords claimed a 3-0 win on November 4, 2014.
The top-seeded Lords clinched the NCAC regular-season championship on October 27 when they defeated Allegheny College 9-0. It was Kenyon's fourth-straight conference crown and tenth overall. That win also bumped Kenyon's records to 14-1-2 overall and 8-0-1 in NCAC play.
This year's team is loaded with offensive options. Twenty-two different players on Kenyon's roster have scored at least one goal this season and in total, the Lords notched 62 goals, which currently ranks tied for fifth in single-season lore. The Lords also rank within the top-ten nationally in goals per game (3.65).
Senior
David Anderson has tallied a team-high 10 goals, while fellow senior
Brice Koval has notched seven. Both those marks rank in the top-four in the NCAC. Furthermore, 12 more Kenyon players have registered multiple goals over the course of the season.
Defensively, the Lords are stout, as well. An outstanding back line led by
Bret Lowry has posted 10 shutouts this year while only giving up 6.4 shots per match. Goalie
Ian McInturf is tied for first in the NCAC in goals allowed (10) and goals against average (0.59).
On the other side, fourth-seeded Wabash finished the regular season with a 13-2-2 record and a 5-2-2 NCAC mark while qualifying for its third-straight tourney.
Freshman forward Timothy Herring led the Little Giants with eight goals, a mark that ranks third in the conference. Additionally, Jacques Boulais registered four goals while Justin Kopp led the team with four assists.
In goal is sophomore Chad Wunderlich. He recently tied the Wabash single-season record for wins (12) and shutouts (9) in a season. Wunderlich ranks fourth in the conference with a 0.85 goals against average and fifth in save percentage (.778).
As mandated by the conference, tickets for Wednesday's semifinal contest are $7 for adults and $3 for children (18 years of age and under). Any NCAC student with a valid ID from an NCAC institution will be admitted free of charge. Live coverage of the match can be
