DELAWARE, Ohio – Saturday afternoon at Ohio Wesleyan University, the Kenyon College women's basketball team scored 11 of the game's first 15 points and rolled to a 64-41 North Coast Athletic Conference victory over the host Battling Bishops.
Junior
Jessica Gerber got things started with a three-pointer to open the game. Four different Kenyon players added points over the next five minutes, pushing the Ladies to an early 11-4 lead. As it turned out, six Kenyon players wound up recording at least two points before the opening quarter ended and the Ladies cruised to a 19-9 lead.
Not much changed in the second quarter. The Ladies made shots at a 50.0 percent clip (15-for-30) and moved their lead to 33-17 at the half. At the other end of the court, Ohio Wesleyan made just 23.3 percent (7-for-30) of its shots, including just one make in eight three-point attempts.
By the break, Gerber had seven points and sophomore
Paige Matijasich had six for the Ladies.
The Ladies continued to spread the ball around and never let Ohio Wesleyan get any closer than 13 points the rest of the way. The final box score showed all but one player scored for Kenyon and the Ladies' bench outscored the Battling Bishops' bench 17-2.

Lane Davis had a big second half, tallying ten points and dishing out three assists. For the game, Davis played 25 minutes, scored 10 points and had four rebounds and four assists.
Matijasich logged a team-high 11 points, while Gerber closed things out with 10. Freshman
Ellie Schaub rattled in nine points and grabbed five rebounds, while senior

The Ladies held the advantage over OWU in just about every statistical category. Bench points aside, the largest discrepancy came from three-point territory, where the Ladies canned 6-of-10 shots and the Battling Bishops made just 3-of-17 attempts.
The win moved Kenyon to 18-3 overall and 11-1 in NCAC play. With four more regular-season games left on the schedule, the Ladies are just one win shy of reaching their final win total from a season ago.
Ohio Wesleyan, led by a game-high 12 points from Nicole Popovich and 10 more from Claire Sterling, fell to 1-20 overall and 0-12 in NCAC action.
