GAMBIER, Ohio – Thirteen different Kenyon College lacrosse players scored one or more goals and 15 recorded at least one point during the Lords' 20-5 North Coast Athletic Conference home win over the Hiram College Terriers.
The victory moved Kenyon's records to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in the NCAC. It also secured for the Lords one of four spots in the conference's postseason tournament, which gets underway with semifinal games on Wednesday, April 25.
On the other side of the field, the Hiram loss ended the Terriers' season with a 6-8 overall record and a 1-7 mark within NCAC play.
Kenyon didn't waste any time in taking over Saturday's game.
Kyle Johnston,
Jonah Florence,
Will Robbins and
Joe Woody all scored within the game's first four minutes, giving Kenyon a quick 4-0 edge.
Senior
Josh Galardi then scored the next two goals and kept a Kenyon run going until it was 8-0 with about four minutes left in the first quarter. Hiram got its first goal at the 1:56 mark, but Kenyon tacked on one more score from
Vi Lobo and went into the second quarter with a healthy 10-1 lead.
The Lords offense took its foot off the gas pedal and coasted into halftime with a 15-3 lead. By the time the teams got into the break, Galardi had already registered two goals and two assists, while fellow senior
Pierce Kraft had five assists.
The large margin allowed Kenyon Head Coach
Doug Misarti to empty his bench and dish out third- and fourth-quarter playing time to reserves. That group responded by outscoring the Terriers, 5-2, over the final 30 minutes of play.
In addition to Galardi's output, Kenyon also got a two-goal game from Robbins, Woody,
Sean Anderson,
Emilio Sosa,
Sam Humphrey and
Jack Snow. Kraft served up one more assist in the fourth quarter and finished the game with six.
The Lords dominated just about every facet of the game. They outshot the Terriers, 47-13, and won they won 22-of-29 face-offs.
In goal, Kenyon used all three of its keepers, with
Nick Connelly getting the start and the win. He made five saves and allowed three goals in 30 minutes of work.
Matt Pantalon and
Reed Levesque finished off the second half, yielding just to more goals.
Tim Stucky led the Hiram offense by scoring twice and assisting on one other goal.
