FRANKLIN, Ind. – Kenyon College fell behind early in the first half before turning up its offense en route to a 4-1 win at Franklin College on Sunday. It was the Ladies' second straight win away from home and it bolstered the team's record to 3-2-1.
About twelve minutes into the game, Grizzlies forward Maddie Fleet scored on an assist from Rachel Hawkins putting the home team up first.
Just a little over a minute later, the Ladies tied it up. A nifty goal from junior
Fallon Raviol, her third of the year, evened the match at 1-1. That score remained the rest of the first half despite Kenyon getting three more on-target shots from Raviol,
Maddie Ladd and
Ellen Harnsberger.
For the Grizzlies, they found only more attempt the rest of the half. That came in the 37th minute as
Jillian Countey saved Fleet's attempt.
Second-half action went entirely in the favor for the Ladies.
At the 57:08 mark, Kenyon broke through for what turned out to be the game-winning goal. As
Morgan Engmann drove to the left end line, she passed back into the middle to a wide-open Raviol who fired into the right side.
Franklin tried to tie things up on a couple of occasions; however, Countey stopped shots from Fleet and Taylor McDaniel.
The Ladies continued their strong offensive showing with two goals in the final five minutes of the contest.
Samantha Hayes and
Jaidyn Cook tallied the third and fourth goals, respectively, to cap off the effort for Kenyon.
Kenyon will remain on the road for its next match, a September 19 date at John Carroll University starting at 7:30 p.m.
