WILMINGTON, Ohio – Kenyon College concluded its efforts at the Kiwanis Classic with a 4-0 win against Adrian College on Saturday at Williams Stadium. The Lords remained unbeaten as they bolstered their record to 3-0-1.
Kenyon raced out to a 4-0 lead by halftime before Lords keeper
Ian McInturf helped preserve the shutout with four saves in the second half.
Not even a minute into the contest did Kenyon find its first and only needed goal of the match. With
Gunner Found in the deep left corner, his cross came to
Brice Koval who headed the ball home into the right corner.
Senior
David Anderson scored for the second straight match at the 7:31 mark. A drive along the right side saw Anderson get by two defenders and his shot went left of goalie Spencer Brown and increased the Lords lead to 2-0.
Nearly five minutes later, fourth-year defender
Bret Lowry found the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
John Penas deflected a cross to the left side of the net and watched as Lowry shot off the side of his right foot into the net.
The Lords capped off their scoring as freshman
Scott Upton converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute. By halftime, Kenyon held a 6-0 shots advantage.
Second-half play saw the Bulldogs put a little more pressure on the Lords' defense as they outshot Kenyon 10-5. However, McInturf did his part denying a pair of header attempts and two kicks.
Next on the schedule for Kenyon is a home date against Marietta College (2-1) on September 12 at 4 p.m. at Mavec Field.
