GAMBIER, Ohio - Kenyon College senior
Cassie Hudson-Heck's two goals in the opening minute of Saturday's game set the tone for the Ladies' 20-5 victory over the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops in the North Coast Athletic Conference lacrosse opener at McBride Field.
The win was the Ladies' sixth straight, giving them a record of 7-2 and 1-0 in the NCAC. On the other side of the field, Ohio Wesleyan had a five-game win streak halted and fell to 6-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Hudson-Heck led the goal-scoring barrage for the Ladies with five, while junior
Avery Morgan tallied four goals of her own. In all, eight Ladies were able to record points in the contest.
As a team, the Ladies outshot the visitors, 39-8, controlled 18 of 27 draws, won the turnover battle 27-12 and converted all 12 of their clearance opportunities.
The Ladies opened the game on an 8-0 scoring run before a Sloane Baumgartner goal got the Battling Bishops on the board almost 15 minutes into the contest.
By halftime, the Ladies were up 12-2 and maintained at least a 10-goal lead throughout the second half.

Katelyn Schwartz, the Ladies held the Battling Bishop's offense to just eight shots.

Carina Barnes had three saves and earned the win before being replaced in the waning minutes by first-year
Genevieve Harding.
The Ladies will look to keep things rolling next weekend, with a Saturday home game against Allegheny College.
