Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Lords dominate at Hiram, 27-4

HIRAM, Ohio – There were contributions from many as the Kenyon men's lacrosse team earned a 27-4 North Coast Athletic Conference win at Hiram College on Saturday. Kenyon improved its record to 7-4 and 2-1 in the NCAC with the victory.

Within the first five minutes of action, both teams had scored multiple times with the Lords possessing a 4-2 lead. The back and forth scoring would come to an end after that.

Over the next 26-plus minutes of action, the Lords reeled off 11-straight goals to blow the game wide open.

The stretch started as defender Kern Byrnes pushed the team ahead, 5-2, with 6:26 left in the first. Joe Woody added Kenyon's sixth goal of the period with 39 seconds left.

In the second, the Lords outscored the hosts 8-0 and built a 14-2 halftime advantage. Vi Lobo, Emilio Sosa and Sam Humphrey each tallied two goals in the period as Kenyon controlled nearly all of the possession and out-shot Hiram by a whopping 22-2 margin.

Second-half action was much of the same as the Lords outscored the Terriers 13-2. With Kenyon's offense clicking, its defense did a good job, too, forcing the home team into 27 turnovers. Additionally, the Lords picked up 34 ground balls compared to just 10 for Hiram.

In goal, David Metzger, Mayo Amorello, Matt Pantalon and Nick Connelly all made their way into the cage and aided the team to its fewest goals allowed this season.

Kenyon will return home on April 9 when it hosts No. 14 Denison University at 4 p.m.
