COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital University's Lauren Bowe scored twice as the Crusaders earned a 4-0 shutout win against Kenyon College on Wednesday night in a non-conference women's soccer match at Bernlohr Stadium. The hosts improved to 5-2 while the Ladies dipped to 2-4.
Led by Bowe, Capital had no trouble pressuring Kenyon on the defensive end. By the end of the match, the Crusaders had attained a massive 26-2 advantage in shots as well as a 9-0 lead in corner kicks.
It took a bit of time before the hosts broke the scoreless tie, but Bowe provided all the scoring Capital needed in the 27th minute. Jordan Fike found Bowe for the initial goal and just over two minutes later, Avery Hart fed a pass to Gabbi Viggiano who scored Capital's second of the half.
After the break, Bowe and Fike scored in the 59th and 72nd minutes, respectively, for the Crusaders' final tallies.
For the Ladies,
Gwyneth Phillips and
Lara O'Callaghan provided the team's lone shots of the contest.
Kenyon's next opponent is Franklin College. That match is scheduled for September 21 at 1 p.m. at Mavec Field.
