Bryan tallies 200th win as Ladies edge Grizzlies

GAMBIER, Ohio – Kenyon College senior Fallon Raviol scored twice Saturday and lifted the Kenyon College Ladies soccer team to a 3-2 victory over the Franklin College Grizzlies. The win, the Ladies' third of the season, was also the 200th career coaching victory for Kenyon head coach Kelly Bryan.

Bryan, who took over the Ladies program in the 2003 season, came from North Carolina Wesleyan College where she posted a 56-24-7 record over four seasons. At Kenyon, Bryan has a 144-131-24 mark over the last 17 seasons, bringing her career total 200-155-31.

Raviol got the scoring started Saturday in the game's 22nd minute, firing one home off an assist from junior Maddie Ladd. Less than four minutes later, however, the Grizzlies tallied the equalizer on a goal from Erin Thomas, who tagged the right corner from about 20 yards out.

The flurry continued about two-and-a-half minutes later. This time it was Ladd who buried one from long distance. It was her first goal of the season and fellow junior Kiele Anderson was credited with the assist.

Things settled down for a bit, but the start of the second half signaled another game-tying goal from Franklin. A little less than four minutes into the period, Jalyn Gorman used an assist from Elaina Page to chip one into the Kenyon net and squared things up at 2-2.

In the game's 62nd minute, Raviol netted the goal that would stand as the game-winner. Using a crossing pass from Morgan Engmann, Raviol lobbed one inside the right post for her second score of the game and her team-best fourth goal of the season.

Jillian County got the start in goal for Kenyon and made four saves, but it was freshman Erika Freiberg who replaced County for the final 31 minutes of the game and earned the win.

Overall, Kenyon outshot Franklin 21-9 while improving its record to 3-4-0. With the loss, Franklin fell to 0-7-1.
