Ladies fall at DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Indiana- The Kenyon College volleyball team battled DePauw University on the road Saturday. The Tigers defended their home court, defeating the Ladies in straight sets.

DePauw scored the first point of the match, but the Ladies responded with a five point streak to take the lead. Both teams exchanged points, until DePauw cut into the Kenyon lead at 9-8. The Ladies kept their separation as they fended off the Tigers. Kenyon gained distance when they got to 17-13. DePauw responded to the Ladies advantage with a five point run, taking the lead. The Tigers finished the set on a 7-2 run, putting the Ladies away in the first set 25-20.

The second set saw a reverse start to the first set as DePauw went on a five point run after Kenyon scored the first point of the set. Back-to-back kills by Lauren Limbach and Macy Reimbold stopped the run and brought the game to 5-3. The Ladies brought the game within one, DePauw answered every Kenyon point with two of their own. A 7-1 stand by the Ladies slowed the Tiger momentum, inching Kenyon to within striking distance at 20-19. DePauw regained their momentum and rode it to a 25-20 set two win. 

The final set of the match saw both teams fight evenly to a 7-7 tie. DePauw went on a short run to take an 11-7 lead. The Ladies stopped the run with a kill by Paige Milhon and a Tiger attack error, but DePauw went on a 7-1 run to take an 18-10 lead. Kenyon cut the lead to five at 18-13, but DePauw put together five straight points to build their lead. The Tigers finished the match on a kill, finishing the straight set victory. 

Kenyon returns home to Tomsich Arena to take on Denison University Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
