Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Josh Ducheneaux

Lords win fourth in a row, beat Case Western 2-0

CLEVELAND, OH -- The Kenyon College Lords men's soccer team defeated the Case Western Reserve University Spartans 2-0 in Cleveland Saturday.

Kenyon came out aggressive and pressured Case Western on their home turf early in the first half. The pressure forced mistakes by the Spartans, but Kenyon could not capitalize. The two teams would exchange chances before the halftime break, however, after 45 minutes of play, the game was tied 0-0.

It didn't take long for either team to warm up after the stop. The Lords pushed the ball forward for Mac Nardiello-Smith, who put a shot on goal that was saved three minutes into second-half play. The Spartans tried to counter, but Kenyon goalkeeper Jack Pedreschi made a save. Off the save, Kenyon went the other way and down the sideline. Luke Muther took the ball inside the 18-yard box and toward the end line. Before the ball went out of bounds, Muther made a sliding pass across the face of the goal and found Atli Hrafnkelsson, who tapped it into the back of the Case Western net.

Twenty minutes later, Kenyon took the ball into the Case Western 18-yard box once again. After the Spartans failed to clear the ball from the box, the loose ball ended up at the foot of Alem Duratovic, who beat Case Western goalkeeper Sam Rojanasakdakul to give his team a 2-0 advantage.

The Spartans would make a push in the final minute of the game, but Pedreschi made a diving save off the header, maintaining the shutout.

The Lords return home to Gambier for their final non conference game against Marietta College on Tuesday at 5:15.
