Lords log pair of dual meet wins

RESULTS

GAMBIER, Ohio -- In a Saturday afternoon double-dual at Steen Aquatic Center, the Kenyon College Lords swimming and diving team won 15 of 16 events and defeated both their opponents. The Lords knocked off Case Western Reserve University by a score of 226-73 and also finished off Ohio Northern University, 239-51.

Of those 15 Kenyon event victories, Marcus Hong, Noah Hargrove, Nicholas Tong and Israel Zavaleta each claimed two. Hong won the 100-yard backstroke (50.00) and took first in the 100-yard butterfly (49.89). Hargrove won the 200-yard butterfly (1:52.23) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.20). Tong took the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.33) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:53.94), while Zavaleta swept the diving events, winning the 1-meter with a score of 338.75 and the 3-meter with a score of 386.60.

Before and after his two individual wins, Hong swam a leg on Kenyon's winning relay teams. He joined David Fitch, Aidan Clarkson and Takashi Kanazawa to win both the meet-opening 200-yard medley relay (1:31.13) and the meet-closing 200-yard freestyle relay (1:24.29).

In distance events, it was Bryan Fitzgerald and James Tracey who came through for Kenyon. Fitzgerald was fastest in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:30.97) and Tracy won the 500-yard freestyle (4:45.66).

Other individual-event winners for Kenyon included Luis Weekes in the 100-yard breaststroke (56.91) Marko Krtinic in the 50-yard freestyle (21.11) and Liam Sweeney in the 100-yard freestyle (46.90).

The Lords will return to action next Saturday in a meet at NCAA Division I Miami (OH) University.
