Zavaleta breaks records in dual with RedHawks

RESULTS

OXFORD, Ohio – Coming off a pair of dual wins against Case Western Reserve University and Ohio Northern University, the Kenyon College men's swimming and diving team traveled to Athens, Ohio to take on Division I Miami (OH) University. The Lords suffered their first dual loss of the season, falling to the RedHawks 183-117.


The Lords posted seven individual wins against Miami (OH) highlighted by Israel Zavaleta breaking his own school records in the one- and three-meter diving. 

Kenyon logged their first win of the dual in the 1,000-yard freestyle as Bryan Fitzgerald finished the race with a time of 9:20.79. Later in the dual, Fitzgerald posted an NCAA 'B' cut qualifying time when he won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:33.18.

The Lords won both backstroke events with preliminary qualifying times as Spencer Pruett won the 100-yard (48.94) and Yurii Kosian won the 200-yard (1:45.97).

In the 200-yard individual medley, Noah Hargrove posted his own 'B' cut time, winning in 1:51.37.

On the boards, Zavaleta won both diving events by breaking his own school records. The sophomore diver posted a score of 388.80 in the one-meter and a score of 405.68 in the three-meter.

The Lords return to the pool Feb. 9 for the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Denison University.
