DePauw dominates glass, downs Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio -- The No. 14-ranked DePauw University Tigers cleaned up just about everything off the glass Saturday at Tomsich Arena and rolled to a 78-51 North Coast Athletic Conference victory over the Kenyon College women's basketball team.

Isabella Ogliore led the charge for DePauw (15-2, 8-0 NCAC) with a game-high 14 rebounds. Her efforts went a long way in the Tigers amassing a 69-27 advantage in rebounds. That total was a team record for games (men's and women's) played in Tomsich. The total included 35 offensive rebounds, which led to 23 second-chance points, and 34 defensive rebounds.

On the other end of the floor, Claudia Cooke's nine rebounds were a third of Kenyon's team total. Cooke also scored eight points. Grace Connery connected on four three-pointers and led the Ladies in scoring with 14. Katie Orefice tossed in 13 points, while Madelyn Anderson posted 10 points and a game-high five assists.

As a team, the Ladies shot 32.3 percent (21-of-65), while the Tigers countered with shots that fell at a rate of 38.0 percent (30-of-79). Twelve different players logged points for DePauw. Moira McGinley led the way with 14, while Mya Shannon and Campbell Montgomery both finished with a dozen points. Ogliore scored nine, coming up one point shy of a double-double.

The Tigers, who've now won four games in a row and six of their last seven, raced out to leads of 8-0 and 18-6 before closing out the first quarter with a 20-8 lead.

Kenyon never got closer than that. DePauw pushed ahead by 23 points at halftime (42-19) and went ahead by as many as 40 points in the third quarter.

The Ladies stayed focused and finished strong, outscoring DePauw, 21-8, in the fourth quarter. Over those last 10 minutes, Connery poured in eight points for Kenyon (
5-14, 3-7 NCAC).

The Ladies now have a week off before they play back-to-back games next weekend. They'll travel to Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday and then return home to play The College of Wooster on Sunday.
