INDIANAPOLIS, IN – After four days of competition, the Kenyon College men's swimming and diving team finished fifth at the 2022 NCAA Championships. The Lords ended the meet with 282.5 points overall. Emory University won the team title with 427.5 points. Following the last event, Israel Zavaleta was named the NCAA Diver of the Year, Bryan Fitzgerald earned Swimmer of the Year, and Ron Kontura earned Dive Coach of the Year.

Zavaleta became the first Kenyon diver to win the honor since John Butcher in 1995. The award made Zavaleta the third person overall to win the award but the fourth time a Kenyon diver has won. Kontura won the award for the first time at Kenyon and became the first Kenyon coach to win the award since Fletcher Gilders won in 1995. Fitzgerald follows David Fitch winning the same award in 2019.

In the first swimming event of the night, Bryan Fitzgerald finished the 1,650-yard freestyle eighth overall with a time of 15:21.91. James Tracey secured a 12th overall finish with a mark of 15:38.79.
