Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Owls gain share of NCAC title with win over Wabash

GAMBIER, Ohio --- Saturday's 2-0 triumph over the visiting Little Giants from Wabash College solidified for the No. 23-ranked Kenyon College men's soccer team at least a share of the 2023 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) regular-season championship--the program's eighth straight and 14th overall.

With just one game left in the regular season, the Owls, who are 13-3-0 overall, are perched atop the NCAC standings with a perfect 7-0-0 record. The Kenyon men can assure themselves of sole possession of the conference championship with a home win Tuesday against Oberlin College in the regular-season finale.

The only team that has a chance of catching Kenyon in the conference standings is Ohio Wesleyan University. The Battling Bishops, who lost to Kenyon on October 4, play host to DePauw University tonight and then host Denison University next Saturday. If Ohio Wesleyan wins both games and Kenyon falls to Oberlin, the Owls still hold the No. 1 seed in the upcoming, four-team NCAC postseason tournament.

The Owls not only celebrated their share of the conference crown on Saturday, but also Senior Day for the team's eight soon-to-be graduates.

The party got started in the game's 12th minute, when junior Alem Duratovic scored what was arguably the team's most spectacular goal of the season. A pass to the far post from Isaac Cortez was headed away by a Wabash defender. Duratovic, with his back turned to the goal, gained control of the loose ball. He booted it straight up in the air and then bicycle-kicked it into the left end of the Wabash goal.

The amazing score was Duratovic's team- and conference-leading 10th of the season. It was also the 34th goal of his career and the 71st point of his career. He currently ranks eighth all-time at Kenyon in goals scored and his point total puts him on the doorstep of cracking the program's top-10 list.

Kenyon, which outshout Wabash 13-5, got an insurance goal from Eamon Dujakovich, another member of the Owls' junior class, with about five minutes left in the contest. This time, a Wabash defender tried to clear the ball out of the box, but sent it right to Dujakovich, who fired it home from just outside of the box. That was his eighth goal of the season and gave him 18 points, just three behind Duratovic.

Wabash, which has now lost four in a row, fell to 5-6-4 overall and 1-4-1 in NCAC action.
