Kenyon divers wrap up season at regional meet

GRANVILLE, Ohio -- Seven Kenyon College divers finished off their 2023-24 season by competing on the three-meter board in Saturday's session of the NCAA Division III Region 1 Diving Championship, which was held at Denison University.

Of those seven Owls, senior Claire Fergusson turned in the best performance. Her final score of 364.90 placed her 15th, right in the middle of the pack of 29 divers who were competing. Fergusson averaged a score of 33.17 per round with her best dive coming on her seventh attempt. That was an inward 2 somersault tuck and she collected a score of 46.80.

Five places behind Fergusson was fellow Kenyon senior Katarina Ilic. She racked up a score of 343.05 while averaging 31.19 per round. Her best dive, a forward 2½ somersault pike, gained her a score of 39.60.

Two first-year teammates finished right behind Ilic. Lucy Cassell-Kelley scored a 335.80 and took 21st place, while Olive O'Dorisio scored a 324.65 to claim 22nd place.

Rounding out the Kenyon crew was a trio that included junior Naomi Kennel and sophomores Bryn Tiernan and Brooke Heis. Kennel tallied a score of 309.20 for 24th place, Tiernan racked up a 308.20 for 25th place and Heis earned a 299.55 for 26th place.
