Kenyon quad gains Academic All-District status

GAMBIER, Ohio -- College Sports Communicators (CSC) released today the list of student-athletes who earned a spot on the organization's 2026 Academic All-District Women's Swimming and Diving Team. Included on the list were Kenyon College swimmers Gwen Eisenbeis, Molly Haag, Lisa Torrecillas-Jouault, and Ashlyn Widmer.

The honor was the third in as many years for Torrecillas-Jouault and Haag, and the first for both Eisenbeis and Widmer.

In order to gain a nomination for the award, a student-athlete had to compete in at least 75 percent of the team's competitions, or had a top-eight finish at a conference meet, or participate in the national championship. Additionally, the nominee had to be on the team's active roster for at least two years and had to possess a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Each institution was allotted a maximum of four nominations.

All four Owls easily cleared the selection criteria as each member of the quartet won an event title at the NCAA Division III Championship, held in Indianapolis a couple weeks ago.

Torrecillas-Jouault, a senior majoring in both philosophy and political science, won the 2026 conference titles in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races and also swam a leg on two winning relay teams. At the NCAA Championship, she logged four top-four finishes, including a win with the NCAA record-setting 400-yard medley relay team. Torrecillas-Jouault made four career appearances at the NCAA Championship and racked up a total of 16 All-America swims.

Haag used her second career Academic All-District award to springboard onto CSC's 2025 Academic All-America team. She gained her third All-District honor after an impressive senior season in which she won three individual events and one relay at the conference championship and was named 2026 NCAC Swimmer of the Year. At the national meet, Haag, a mathematics major, claimed individual events titles in the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyles, bringing her career total to 18 All-America swims over her four years.

For Eisenbeis, also a mathematics major, the academic award comes on the heels of her winning the 2026 conference crowns in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke races. She also swam on leg on three conference title-winning relays and captured her first NCAA event title as a part of Kenyon's winning and NCAA record-setting 400-yard medley relay team. She'll graduate in May as a three-time NCAA qualifier with 15 career All-America certificates.

Widmer was conference runner-up in the 400-yard individual medley, but went on to the national championship to win the NCAA title, pulling off, perhaps, the upset of the meet. Entering competition as the No. 9 seed in the race, she made her way into the final heat and won it by one-hundredth of a second. Widmer, a molecular biology major, is a junior, a three-time NCAA qualifier, and a three-time All-American swimmer.

With the All-District awards and an impressive slate of credentials, all four Kenyon swimmers will move on to the national ballot for CSC Academic All-America consideration. The results of that balloting will be announced on Tuesday, April 28.
