Owls sweep Bishops, remain perfect in NCAC

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Kenyon College women's tennis team traveled to Delaware, Ohio on Saturday evening for the squad's second North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) match of the season, taking on the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops. 

The Owls dominated the day in both singles and doubles matches, firing six shutouts en route to a 9-0 victory.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Eleni Lazaridou and Allaire Berl got things started off for Kenyon, turning in an 8-0 score. Ana Brand and Lalasa Nagireddy finished next in the No. 3 doubles contest, also not surrendering a single point to Ohio Wesleyan. In the last finish chronologically of the doubles matches, Shadia Amado Aguad and Eleni Dakos took care of business, dispatching the No. 2 team 8-2 as the Owls jumped out to a 3-0 lead. 

Kenyon's success continued in the singles matches, as Lazaridou and Berl each bested their opponent 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches respectively. Dakos was next to finish in the No. 4 slot, also winning in straight sets. 

Amado Aguad took home the first set of her match 6-3, and backed it up with another 6-0 victory in the second set of the No. 3 match. Nagireddy netted the team's sixth shutout of the day in her No. 5 bout, and Madeline Chappars capped off the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 6 tilt.

Through two NCAC matches, the Owls have yet to concede a point in overall match scores, winning 9-0 in each outing. 

Kenyon's record improves to 7-6 overall and 2-0 in the NCAC. The Owls stay on the road for two more conference contests, the first coming on Sunday, April 7 as the team will face the Wittenberg University Tigers at 11:00 am from Springfield, Ohio.
