Kenyon duo competes in two events at Clarion

CLARION, Pa. -- Over the course of the last two days, Kenyon College divers Chase Smith and James Lackner put in a lot of work. Friday, the two competed in Clarion University's Don Leas Diving Invitational and then Saturday they returned to Clarion's campus to participate in the Golden Eagles' Diving Fall Classic.

Smith, a first-year, wound up posting the best results for Kenyon. Going against NCAA Division II competition in Friday's 11-dive event, he placed fifth on the one-meter board, scoring a 452.15 and then placed sixth on the three-meter board, scoring a 442.45, while just missing his second fifth-place showing by less than a point.

Lackner, a sophomore, followed up on Friday with seventh-place finishes in both one- and three-meter competition. He tallied a score of 353.95 from the lower height and a 352.60 from the higher height.

On Saturday, the two Kenyon divers switched to the six-dive format, but still went up against NCAA Division II competition. Again, Smith and Lackner posted fifth- and seventh-place finishes, respectively.

Smith took fifth-place spots with a score of 259.20 on the one-meter board and a score of 251.90 on the three-meter board. Lackner then finished off  the weekend with seventh-place showings. He scored a 175.20 on the one-meter and then a 211.15 on the three-meter.
