LOUISVILLE, Ky - Competing with a split squad, the Kenyon College men's cross country team turned in a strong performance on Saturday morning, placing eighth out of 44 teams at the Louisville Cross Country Classic, held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. The Owls scored 335 points in the highly competitive men's Blue 8k race.

Leading the way for Kenyon was senior
Joshua Breard, who led the Owls with a 25:38.9, finishing 23rd overall in a field of more than 400 runners. Just behind him was senior
Colt Murphy and sophomore
Charlie Blackmer, who crossed nearly in unison. Murphy clocked in at 25:54.5 for 38th place, while Blackmer matched that time and landed in 39th.

The Owls' scoring pack was rounded out by first-year
Noah Berg and
Jackson Beemer. Berg placed 113th overall with a time of 26:32.6, while Beemer secured 143rd in 26:47.0.

Adding depth for Kenyon were seniors
Dylan Sibbitt (171st, 26:59.1) and sophomore
Caleb Low (179th, 27:00.6), followed by senior
Henry Rodrigues (196th, 27:11.2) and sophomore
Charlie Menzel (240th, 27:38.6).

Otterbein University captured the team title with 153 points, narrowly edging the University of Mount Union (155). St. Bonaventure University, John Carroll University, and Trinity University (TX) rounded out the top five.

The Owls will return to action on Saturday, October 18, when they compete in the Oberlin Regional Rumble.
