GAMBIER, Ohio – Hosting the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship, the Kenyon College men's cross country team delivered a historic performance on Saturday morning. The Owls placed second in the nine-team conference field, scoring 62 points, and posting their best finish since 2003, when they last captured the NCAC crown.
Senior
Joshua Breard led the way for Kenyon, charging through the 8k course in 25:43.6 to earn a fifth-place finish overall and a spot on the All-NCAC First Team. Fellow senior
Colt Murphy followed closely behind in 25:48.5 to take eighth place and Second Team All-NCAC honors, while sophomore
Charlie Blackmer wasn't far off, clocking in at 25:50.0 for ninth, also earning Second Team recognition.
Sophomore
Caleb Low continued Kenyon's strong pack running, finishing 16th in 26:12.4, securing Third Team All-NCAC status. Sophomore
Charlie Menzel sealed the team scoring with a 26th-place finish at 26:36.2. Senior
Henry Rodrigues (26:38.6, 27th) and first-year
Jackson Beemer (26.39.2, 28th) provided valuable support as the Owls' sixth and seventh runners.
Several other Owls contributed to the performances on their home course. Senior
Owen Rodstrom ran 26:42.3 to place 30th, while Senior
Dylan Sibbitt ran 26:52.3, notching a 39th place finish. First-year
Noah Berg and
Champ Blose were next, clocking at 27:31.2 and 27:58.3. Freshman
Adam Skidmore rounded out the Kenyon line with a time of 29:50.1.
John Carroll University captured the conference crown with 24 points, placing five runners in the top 11. Kenyon followed with 62 points, while Oberlin College (73), Wabash College (122), and DePauw University (127) completed the top five.
The Owls will look to carry their momentum into the NCAA Regional Championship, set for Saturday, November 15, in Louisville, Kentucky.
