Kenyon ties season-high goal mark, bests Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio – Playing in the final road test before kicking off the 2025 North Coast Athletic Conference Schedule (NCAC), the Kenyon College women's lacrosse team made the trip to Northeast Ohio to take on Baldwin Wallace University.

The Owls controlled all aspects of the field, and fueled by five multi-point performances, the visitors took the game 18-4.

Lily Mason added to her team-leading mark with her 15th goal of the season to start things off for Kenyon. After Baldwin Wallace came back to even the game early at 10:42 in the first, the Owls charged to a 4-1 run to end the first quarter.

Mallory Brophy scored twice after missing the team's previous contest, while Spencer Kirsch and Charlotte Skelly buried goals to take a 5-2 lead after 15 minutes.

Kenyon fired off its best offensive frame of the night to take a commanding lead in the second quarter, gaining a 7-1 advantage in the second. Brophy scored twice along with Skelly, while Kirsh, Mason, and Ashley Auerbach all found the back of the net and at the half, the Owls were up 12-3. Blythe Karras led all players in the first half with five assists and five points.

Scoring slowed down after halftime, but the Owls lead remained in the double digits. Mason added her third goal of the outing, while Bridgette Cassidy capped off the scoring in the third assisted by Elena Zuvekas to gain a 14-4 lead.

In the fourth, first-year Susannah Zimmerman got involved with her first goal of the season, followed by the first tally from Delaney Champeau. Cassidy and Mason capped off the day with two more goals, as Kenyon came away with an 18-4 winner.

Karras led the squad with six points, all from assists, which is a new career best. Mason and Brophy each scored four goals followed by three from Skelly and two from Kirsch and Cassidy. Josie DeBruer caused two turnovers on the defensive side of the ball, while Kirsch led the team with three ground balls.

Nola Garand made four saves in net, while Meagan Lacombe came in with three saves in relief.

The Owls record moves to 4-5 on the season. Kenyon will be back in Gambier for the team's next contest on Saturday, March 29 at 4:00 pm against Otterbein University to celebrate alumni.
