Two Owls earn All-NCAC recognition

CLEVELAND -- Two Kenyon College Owls made their way onto the 2024-25 All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Men's Basketball Team. Senior Gefen Bar-Cohen was among the second-team selections, while first-year Marius Mazeika was voted the conference's Newcomer of the Year.

Bar-Cohen, now a three-time All-NCAC honoree, led the Owls this season in both scoring (16.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg). His season stat line also included 36 assists, 21 steals, and 14 blocked shots. He logged a double-digit scoring total in all but one game this past season and also generated a pair of double-doubles.

Bar-Cohen, a forward from Princeton, New Jersey, will exit the program with career numbers that include 1,247 points and 532 rebounds to go along with 132 assists, 61 steals, and 55 blocks. Before this season's second-team honor, Bar-Cohan was a third-team selection in both his sophomore and junior seasons.

On the other side of the experience gauge, Mazeika is just starting to make a name for himself in the collegiate ranks. In his first season at Kenyon, the Lithuanian forward averaged 12.0 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game. He was one of the better free throw shooters on the team, posting a conversion rate of .813 (61-of-75) and he tallied 29 assists and 10 steals.

With his award, Mazeika became the first Kenyon player to earn NCAC Newcomer of the Year recognition since Kodey Haddox did so at the conclusion of the 2007-08 campaign.
