Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Owls can't come back against Lions

EWING, N.J., – Playing in the second of three games in New Jersey for spring break, the Kenyon College women's lacrosse team took on The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.

After a great come from behind victory on Thursday, the Owls could not muster the same feat, as the Lions took control of the game early and never let up, eventually taking the contest 17-3.

The College of New Jersey, currently ranked No. 13 in the country, (3-0) jumped out to a large lead, scoring the first five goals of the game throughout the first quarter. Ashley Quinn got Kenyon (2-3) on the board with 30 seconds remaining in the first, tallying her eight goal of the season with an assist from Charlotte Skelly

The home team continued to find the net in the second and third quarters, scoring nine straight goals to set the score 14-1 with 10:25 remaining in the third frame. Ella Baxter scored her first goal of the season as Blythe Karras found her near the net for the tally.

Quinn added another goal with 1:39 remaining in the game, but it wasn't enough as the Lions took the game 17-3.

As a team, Kenyon fired 11 shots on goal, grabbed 10 ground balls, and caused nine turnovers led by Alex Tiatia, Lily Mason and Bridgette Cassidy with two apiece. Nola Garand made seven saves in the cage.

Up next, the Owls will close out their trip with a visit to Rowan University with a battle of the Owls, getting underway at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, March 11.
