Bears end Owls’ NCAA Tournament run

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 26-ranked Kenyon College women's tennis ended its 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament run on Sunday afternoon, falling to tournament host No. 9 Washington University in St. Louis 4-0, playing to clinch.

The second flight pair of Clare Hudson and Shadia Amado Aguad had the best crack at gaining a doubles win early on in the match, but two wins by WashU in the first and third flights stopped that match with the Owls ahead 6-5.

Eleni Lazaridou and Hana Nouaime dropped their doubles match 6-4 in the top flight, while Ana Brand and Lalasa Nagireddy fell 6-3 in the third grouping, giving the Bears the first point.

In singles, Lazaridou was the closest to a win in the No. 1 flight. The Kenyon ace took the first set 6-2 and was ahead 4-2 in the second, but the Owls had dropped the three other matches needed to secure the win for the Bears.

Brand fell 6-2, 6-4 in the second flight, while Amado Aguad dropped her match in the third tilt 6-1, 6-1. The final blow came in the fourth flight, where Hudson was defeated 6-1, 6-1.

For the incomplete matches, Nouaime was behind 7-5 in the first set and 3-1 in the second in the fifth flight, while Nagireddy dropped her opener 6-3 and was trailing 2-1 in the sixth flight.

With that, Kenyon ends the 2024-2025 season with a 16-7 overall record, going 6-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference en route to a regular season and tournament championship.

The Owls are not through with NCAA Division III tournaments, however, as Lazaridou will represent the squad in the singles tournament and will join Nouamie with a spot in the doubles tournament. The individual championships will include 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams and will take place May 24-27 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California.
