BETHANY, W. Va. – The Kenyon women's soccer team wasted no time setting the tone for the 2025 season, using a pair of standout goals and a stifling defensive effort to earn a 2-0 road win over Bethany College.
The Owls applied steady offensive pressure throughout the match, outshooting the Bison 16-6 while holding an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. The breakthrough came in the 41st minute when first-year
Addison Szollosi scored her first collegiate goal. After shaking a defender at the top of the box, Szollosi cut inside toward the middle of the field and launched a missile across her body that sailed into the right corner of the net over the keeper's hand, putting the Owls ahead 1-nil at halftime.
Kenyon doubled it in the final minute of the second half. Junior
Addilyn Tober drove down the left wing, slipped past the Bethany backline, and fired a sharp shot from the baseline into the opposite corner, stretching the advantage to 2-nil.
From there the Owls' defense shut the door. Goalkeeper
Ariel Kite secured the clean sheet with one save, supported by a strong back line of
Georgia Yatrakis, Tober,
Brooke Heis, and
Chanda Maambo, who kept the Bison from generating consistent pressure.
The Owls now face a quick turnaround, returning to action less than 24 hours later as they travel to Berea, Ohio, to take on Baldwin Wallace University on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
