Denison edges Kenyon, 1-0

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College men's soccer team saw its six-match winning streak come to an end Wednesday afternoon, falling 1-0 to visiting Denison University at Mavec Field. The Big Red scored in the first half and held off the Owls for the remainder of the contest to secure the victory.

Denison (7-1-6, 3-0-2 NCAC) broke through in the 21st minute when Lowen Jamison scored off the assist from Jack Rice at 20:48. The goal proved to be the difference in the North Coast Athletic Conference matchup.

Kenyon (11-3-0, 4-1-0 NCAC) controlled much of the possession with an 11-8 edge in shots. The Owls were unable to find the equalizer against the Denison goalkeeper Alex Provost, who recorded four saves to preserve the shutout.

The Owls increased the pressure in the second half, generating seven shots and five corner kicks after the break. Adrian Bondartsov led Kenyon with four shots, including two on target, but Provost turned away his attempts in the 64th and 70th minutes.

Luca Bilotto also tested Provost late in the contest, putting a shot on target in the 83rd minute, but the Denison goalkeeper made the stop. Kenyon continued to push forward in the closing minutes, earning a corner kick in the final minute, but could not convert the opportunity.

Kenyon goalkeeper Matthew Kayser finished with two saves, while the Owls totaled seven corner kicks to Denison's three.

The Owls return to action Saturday, Oct. 24, when they travel to take on Oberlin College.
