Kenyon remains in second, Dragojlovic gets first win

DELAWARE, Ohio – After scoring 182 points on the opening night of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Men's Swimming and Diving Championship, the Kenyon College men's swimming and diving team was back in the pool on Thursday night for the second day of action.

The Owls and senior Djordje Dragojlovic tabbed their first win of the championship meet in the 50 freestyle, as the team remains in second place after posting several strong scores, trailing host Denison University 597.5 to 708.5.

Dragojlovic delivered Thursday's highlight and gave Kenyon its first win and a valuable 35 points with a 19.96 mark in the 50 freestyle, his signature event. The time was good enough for an NCAA 'B' cut as well.

The quartet of Peter Dunson, Noel Tumbasz, Roman Savage and Dragojlovic teamed up in the final swim of the evening to post a 3:13.56 mark in the 400 medley relay. The time also was under the NCAA 'B' cut threshold, Dragojlovic's second of the evening.

In the first event of the slate, the 500 freestyle, Savage took third place with a 4:31.32 time, just 0.1 seconds off the first place mark and 0.06 seconds away from runner up. The junior still delivered his team 30 points.

Ethan Manske added 27 points to the Owls' score with a 1:50.35 time in the 200 individual medley, good enough for sixth place.

Kenyon will be back at it tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. for day three preliminary heats and then again at 6 p.m. for final heats with a 13-event schedule upcoming.
