Owls host Fast Chance, prep for nationals

GAMBIER, Ohio -- In a bid to trim times before next month's NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championship, the Kenyon College Owls hosted the unscored 2026 Fast Chance Invitational on Saturday at Steen Natatorium.

The Kenyon women hosted a similar meet last night and rang up a few NCAA 'B' cuts, as well as some personal bests, however, Saturday's meet didn't bear out the same kind of results. The team registered just one 'B' cut from Norah Johnson.

Johnson, a junior, swam the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.03, which fell under the NCAA standard of 1:04.12. Her time was an improvement over last night, when she clocked in at 1:04:32, but neither of those times topped her season best of 1:03.48 set at last week's North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship.

Swimming alongside Johnson, first-year Julia Mascarenhas finished in 1:04.36, but like Johnson, that was not her season best. She set that at 1:04.04, also at the NCAC Championship.

Throughout the day, no other Kenyon swimmer or relay team flirted with an NCAA qualifying time.

The Owls will soon learn the make-up of their NCAA roster and start preparations for the national meet, which will be held March 18-21 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
