Cassell-Kelley leads Kenyon duo at regional

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Junior Lucy Cassell-Kelley placed ninth among 32 divers during one-meter competition Friday evening at the 2026 NCAA Division III Region 1 Diving Championship. She edged teammate Nadia Milovich, who ended up in 13th place.

The Regional Championship, being held at Kalamazoo College, allows for nine of the 32 divers to qualify for the next month's NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championship. Results from Friday's one-meter competition, as well as Saturday's upcoming three-meter competition, are taken into consideration, putting Cassell-Kelley within reach, pending a strong performance on Saturday.

Cassell-Kelley garnered a final score of 394.25 on the one-meter board. She rang up scores of 40 or better on three of her final five dives. Her best scoring dive of the competition was the forward 2 ½ somersault pike. The 2.6 degree of difficulty on that attempt netted her a score of 46.80.

Milovich, a sophomore, wound up with a final score of 374.35, maintaining her spot in the upper half of the field. Her sixth of 11 dives was her best. It was the forward 2 somersault pike with a degree of difficulty of 2.3. Judges awarded her a score of 41.40 on that dive.

Both Cassell-Kelley and Milovoch will return to the scene Saturday for the three-meter event, which is scheduled to start at noon.
